In 1976 Bruce Jenner was a gifted athlete and captured the American imagination that the underdog not only could compete with the finest athletes of the world but also win. Jenner's success was, however, short lived. Jenner's likeness appeared on a Wheaties box, which many of our mothers purchased at the local grocery store. That’s where the story should have ended, but it didn't.

Jenner's success on the field never translated off the field. In 1980 Jenner starred in one movie, a comedy with Village People, called Can’t Stop The Music. The film was a box office flop and soon afterwards Jenner was nominated the 1980 Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Actor.

From 1981 through 1982 Jenner made appearances on a number of television shows, including CHiPs, as well as Silver Spoons. Around the same period although the writers didn’t identify Jenner as the target of their wit Saturday Night Live parodied Jenner by filming John Belushi endorsing little chocolate donuts.

Jenner also appeared as a guest on number of game shows and reality TV shows, including The American Sportsman.

In March of 2003 Jenner was cast on the American series, I’m a Celebrity… Get me Out of Here. Jenner also made a cameo appearance in the third season of Donald Trump’s reality TV show, The Apprentice.

Finally in 2007 Jenner starred in the E! reality series, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, along with his then wife, Kris Jenner, and stepchildren, Kourtney, Kim, Khloé and Rob from Kris’ marriage to defence attorney, Robert Kardashian. In fact it was Kris Kardashian who sold the idea of the show to the producers at E! and not Jenner.

Jenner’s personal life was even more troubled than his post-olympic vocation. Jenner was married three times. In each case he hid his proclivities towards cross-dressing from his wives. In a recent interview with Diane Sawyer he said he was willing to give the marriage a try as Caitlyn and Kris, presumably a lesbian couple, but that Kris had no interest. In this regard Jenner’s half-hearted grasp why a heterosexual woman would not find a man on synthetic female hormones attractive is astounding. Then again, most men who embark on a gender transition never grasp why their spouses and girlfriends don't get what they personally find as sexy and exciting. 99.9% of all women find transsexality as bizarre and icky.

However, to Jenner’s mind it is all about him as 'her', his synthetic hormones and the effect the medication has on his aging, athletic body, his troubles finding women’s shoes in a size 14, his struggles finding a woman on the dating circuit, who happens to find what Jenner finds sexy and exciting equally so, his concerns over what his children will think of him as ‘her’ and the fact that he doesn’t want to hurt them.

It won’t be easy for #CallMeCaitlyn Jenner, but he will revel in the attention over the course of his transition from an older man to an older man trapped in a man’s body.

Jenner’s continued success in the entertainment industry will largely depend on Kris Kardashian, Kim Kardasian, and to some degree Korney Kardashian. If this collective group of women decide to give credence to the struggles of a transition-obsessed man in finding ladies shoes in a size 14, Jenner’s reality TV exploits will work. If they don’t, Jenner and his great idea of showing America what in his mind it really means to be female, won’t spin and any show featuring Jenner will not make it after one season.

Jenner is not the first athlete to make the switch from him to 'her'. In 1999 or thereabouts male-to-female transsexual, golfer, Mianne Bagger appeared on the scene of the Ladies European Tour. Bagger couldn’t cut it as a man on the men’s professional golf circuit prior to his so-called gender transition.

Although Bagger won a female amateur championship, Bagger was by no means a successful tour player on the LET. Over the course of the 2004 season, Bagger, who was 38-years-old at the time, failed to make a single cut on any tournament event. The LET reports that Bagger's career earnings for 2004 as $0.00. Over the course of the 2005 season, Bagger played in 13 tournaments and earned Euro$2,726.00. Over the course of the 2006 season Bagger played in 8 tournaments and earned 17,385.83. Over the course of the 2006 season, Bagger's average earnings were Euro$2,173.23. Over the course of the 2007 season Bagger played in 16 tournaments and earned 39.265.41. Over the course of the 2007, season Bagger's average earnings were Euro$2,454.09. To date Bagger was no wins on the LET.

Unlike Bagger, male-to-female transsexual Michelle Dumaresq experienced success on the women’s professional mountain bike circuit as a member of the Canadian women's team. In 2001 Dumaresq, who was 32-years-old at the time, entered a novice female class event and won. In fact, his finish time was 2.5 seconds faster than the winner of the female professional category. However, Dumaresq's Canadian teammates, Sylvie Allen, the reigning Canadian champion, and Cassandra Boon led a formal protest before the International Cycling Union, asking the ICU to ban Dumaresq from competing against women. Cycling BC agreed and suspended Dumaresq's license.

Allen and Boon cited medical evidence they claim proves Dumaresq's male genetic predisposition gives 'her' a physical advantage. In fact Dumaresq had the advantage of having 20 formative years of natural testosterone conditioning that is naturally inherent to males and absent to born females.

Jenner is unlike Bagger and Dumaresq in that he achieved success as a man where the other two did not. However, all three transsexual athletes share one thing in common; they each are female-oriented. Research from the CAMH demonstrates that female-oriented male-to-female have a common history. As children they learned to masturbate to the thought of being a female while wearing the clothing of a member of the oppose sex in the family. This behavior is indicative of an autogynephilic addiction which emerges as the child develops a sexual identity and not a gender identity disorder.

There are virtually no cases of people who have a genuine gender identity disorder in North America. The one individual in North America who was correctly diagnosed as having a gender identity disorder was David Reimer, whose parents raised as a girl, Brenda, after a botched circumcision. When David was 18 months old his parents reported that he continually tugged at his dress in an effort to remove it and play with the other boys. None of the celebrity transsexuals that are prominent in the media, including Chaz Bonos, Laverne Cox, Candis Cayne, Alexis Arquette, have reported they were observed to demonstrate the same gender discord at such an age. Rather, these celebrities all report they began to question their gender at age 5-years-old or thereabouts.

There is a huge difference between gender identity and sexual identity. Gender Identity forms in the first few months of life and is immutable at 18 months of age. Sexual Identity and the underlying addiction to certain sexual disorders forms at five years of age. Sexual Identity is what thoughts you have to spur sexual arousal when you start to learn to masturbate.
